Dimitris Koutsoumpas, the GS of the CC of the KKE, met on 21/12/2015 in Athens with the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas. The meeting was held in the framework of the Palestinian President’s visit to Athens and his discussions with the government and the leaders of the political parties.  

D. Koutsoumpas made the following statement immediately after the meeting: “We expressed our solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people. The Greek people must also strengthen their struggle so that there can exist a viable, independent, sovereign Palestinian state, as an equal member of the United Nations, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the 1967 borders.  And of course the Israeli settlements must cease, the refugees must be able to return to their homes, the murderous attacks of the imperialist state of Israel against the Palestinian people must cease.”
